Another year fatter and full of changes

The end is near if i don't figure something out. 304 lbs this morning, ugh. I believe it's about time to start taking this shit serious. i mean i hit the gym on a regular basis, but I don't follow any eating guidelines. I have tried but fail way too soon.  Today has to be the day I kick it into high gear. I've started reading a book on meditation. Its called "Start Here Now" by Susan Piver.  If I can get through the book it might help me take a bit more control of my life.  Now, to catch up on everything...

After 6 years of prepping my son for High School football, we decided to send him to a private school. 6 years of coaching with the feeder team for his public HS down the drain. Having to make that call to the HS freshman coach, who anticipated his arrival in the summer, was very hard to do. They called me first and asked if he was playing, and at that time we hadnt got the official acceptance letter from the private school yet, so we couldn't tell him that he wasn't playing. They even hinted at wanting me to coach at the HS level. I had to string them along a bit, which I hated to do because I was good friends with the Coach. I had to tell them he was looking at Magnet HSs and depending on how far away they were we didn't know yet. The hardest part was that the new school played against them in League play. The day we got the acceptance letter, we started making the calls. Although the freshman coach was upset, he told us that my son would love that school and would do excellent there. He also said the coaching staff is Top Notch. He knows that we value Academics over Athletics any day of the week and my son shows it with a MS GPA 3.973 and a class rank of 16 out of 544. That's top 3%!! All accelerated classes too! I thanked him and moved down the line of people to call. I was glad my son wasn't going to Public school. We had had issues the last few years with parents thinking the coaches favored my son, making him QB over other kids. Well my son has worked his ass off and only started QB his 4th and 8th grade year. Private QB coach and a few camps helped him get where he was, not who is parents were. I didn't need that to continue at the HS. I told my son that at the new school he has the opportunity to be his own man. No one knows him there, so they don't know what to expect.  No one knows us, so there is no threat of who we know, which is NO ONE. We have the ability to be JUST A PARENT.

Now my son has been losing interest in Football for a long time. Whether it's bad coaches, losing seasons or just horrible teammates, he was about fed up with it.  My wife and I said we wouldn't force him to play HS football, but we both agreed that he needed to try one year, under the lights, to see if he really didn't want to play anymore.  He reluctantly agreed and so far this summer he's enjoying it.  His new school has much smaller enrollment (220 per class Vs 1,000 per class) so they doubt they will be able to field a Freshman football team. JV for him it is.   He is one of 5 JV Qbs. One of which is the son of a very famous person in the MMA world. Regardless,  my son said he is happy just being part of the team and getting to throw in practice. He truly is growing up!
